Meet the Horses of Nation Road Farm
Come meet 9 of the horses + ponies that call Nation Road home!
Nation Road Horse Rental is a 4th generation family farm, but Judy and her husband William started their horseback riding business about eight years ago. Nation Road offers guided trail rides and pony rides for people of all ages and experience levels. "I've always loved horses, so I wanted to share that love and let others experience horses and their healing spirits," Judy says. Many of their horses are rescued or rehomed— the farm is home to around 25 horses and ponies, all with their own story.
Meet Ty
Ty has lived here at Nation Road for 8 years and Judy estimates he is in his late teens. He is a wonderful trail guide horse and is popular for how he prances while riding. Judy says he is known as the "Fabio" of the farm because "he knows he's good looking" with his long, beautiful mane of hair.
Meet Nick
His full name is Nick's Legacy, named after Judy's brother who passed away a few months before Nick's Legacy was born. He was born on the farm and has lived here all his life. Nation Road still has his mom, Piper, who lives on the farm too. Nick is about 7 years old and is sometimes used as a trail horse for guests depending on experience.
Meet Dutchess
Dutchess is the beauty pictured above; she is an 18 year-old Spotted Draft Horse and another one of the trained horses for trail rides at Nation Road. Dutchess also helps pull carries, wagons, and equipment on the farm. She has lived on the farm since March 2018, where Judy renamed her to give her a regal title. "Dutchess is a sweet mare with loving eyes. To watch her run is like poetry in motion," Judy says.
Meet Sky King
Sky King is a trail guide horse and guest horse. Judy says he is known for his great disposition. He has lived here at Nation Road for four years, and everyone says he is very photogenic. "He absolutely loves the camera," Judy says.
Meet Lady
Lady is one of the bigger horses on the farm; she is a Percheron cross, Judy says she believes a cross with a Quarter Horse. Lady has lived on the farm for around 6 years and is a great trail horse for guests. "Her quirky trait is she just doesn't like to walk in a straight line, she loves to weave," Judy says.
Meet Romeo
Romeo is a registered Tennessee Walker horse. Judy says his coloring is quite unique— this distinct pattern of having white patches and white bordering on the legs is called Sabino. Romeo has called Nation Road home for seven years now, and is a great trail horse for guests.
Meet Sam
Sam is a rescue success story. Judy and William were called to come rescue him off a meat truck around five years ago. He found his forever home at Nation Road, where his size and easy-going personality makes him one of the best trail horses for kids.
Meet Summer Joy
Say hello to Summer Joy, or more commonly known as Summer. She is a friendly trail horse used for guests of all ages and experience levels. She has lived on the farm for six years after being rescued from a home in Indiana.
Meet Koda
This adorable picture is pony Koda as a baby! In August of 2022, Rosie-Pony gave birth to Koda on the farm. As a baby colt, he became quite the social media sensation with his playful personality. "He is one of the friendliest and most outgoing," Judy says.
