This family-run farm invites you to experience the simple joy of flowers.
Tucked away on a hilltop in Ross Township, surrounded by forest, Knebel's Flower Farm brings fresh air, beautiful flowers, and community together. This family-owned-and-operated farm invites visitors to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the simple joy of picking a bouquet straight from their field.
Growing a Dream
For owner Barb Knebel, creating that feeling of joy and peace has always been at the heart of the farm.
"I said I needed a sign," Barb recalls when thinking back to the inspiration behind starting a flower farm. "And the next day we recieved a magazine in the mail and right on the cover it said, do you want to be a flower farmer?"
The answer was clearly yes.
The Knebel family purchased the 15-acre property in 2007 and built their home there in 2009. Their love of flowers and the outdoors eventually grew into a business, with the family beginning to grow flowers from seed in 2018, offering u-pick flowers and special events.
"From Our Soil to Your Soul"
Before becoming a flower farmer, Barb was a kindergarten teacher and a strong advocate for mental health. She envisioned a place where people could step away from the everyday hustle, spend time outside, and simply find a little peace.
That vision continues to guide the farm today. The farm's motto, From Our Soil to Your Soul, captures that mission perfectly.
"We always want people to walk away from here feeling good," Barb says.
A Garden That Grows With Nature
Knebel's Flower Farm takes an all-natural approach to growing, supporting the surrounding environment. "Our farming philosophy is to embrace nature and work in harmony with it," says Barb.
Each year, the farm plants around 10 of its tried-and-true flower varieties, while experimenting with new ones. Visitors can typically expect colorful zinnias, sunflowers, African marigolds, gomphrenas, and more. The farm is especially known for its beautiful snapdragons and lisianthus.
Lisianthus is one of Barb's favorites, thanks to its rose-like appearance, ruffled petals, and long vase life.
Gomphrenas are another standout, with vibrant pom-pom-shaped blooms that thrive in the heat and can be dried indefinitely. New additions this season (2026) include veronicas, speedwells, and St. John's wort, adding even more variety to the field.
Of course, farming is never entirely predictable. Extreme heat and storms have made the 2026 season one of the most challenging the farm has experienced. For Barb, though, learning to adapt is part of being a farmer.
"Being a flower farmer I learn something every year, every day, every minute," she says.
U-pick Flower Bouquets
The best way to experience Knebel's Flower Farm is with a private u-pick visit. The farm opens for public u-pick on select Saturdays throughout the growing season, with private u-pick experiences available by reservation.
Private U-pick Sessions:
- Available Monday through Thursday for groups of 4-6 or more
- Available Friday through Sunday for groups of 10 or more
- $45 per person, including equipment + as many flowers as you can pick that fit in your bouquet
The farm also hosts special events each year like Yoga, Girls Night Out, and the Earth Mandala Retreat. Their season typically begins mid-July and continues into fall, or until the flowers are gone. Since weather plays such an important role in the growing season, bloom times and availability can vary.
More than anything, Barb wants Knebel's Flower Farm to be a place where people can connect; with nature, with one another and with themselves. "It's all about community for me," she says.
The Knebel's invite visitors to come explore the beauty; come pick your own bouquet, spend time with friends, or simply enjoy the serene setting.
A visit to Knebel's is about more than flowers. It's about taking a moment to appreciate what's growing around you. And that's exactly what Barb hoped to create...
A place where visitors can leave with flowers in their hands and a little more peace in their souls.
